Woman in a Tub, Degas

This is one of the designs from the series of women bathing in tubs and bathtubs.
Part of the inspiration for these motifs was found in the famous Japanese prints, of which Degas was an avid collector.

All models have their faces hidden from the viewer. Facial expression in this case is dispensable; the artist seeks to focus attention on the activity, anatomy, and action of the characters.
The painting, with backgrounds in blue and purple tones, highlights the main character and her copper-colored hair. The somewhat opaque reddish-oranges bathe the light and reflections in the tub, engaging in a dialogue with the red of the floor and the chair, creating a unique dimensional relationship.
